The end is here. A decision must be made. A destination must be selected. Whom will you serve? Where will you go?

Of new beginnings

When you are born again, you become a new creature, born of God.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

Not only does the earth end, but it also begins again.

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

In Matthew chapter 24 Jesus Christ was warning his disciples about the end of the world — the tribulation and terrible events that would signal his return in power. There are very few things that do not come to an end. God’s word and Love do not end.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Where are we going?

When Jeremiah declared that the covenant was broken, he immediately declared that God would make a new covenant in Jeremiah 31:31. But read on. This new covenant  really is different.

Jeremiah 31:32-34 New International Version (NIV)
32 It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
though I was a husband to them,”
declares the Lord.
33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
34 No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”

God’s people are different. Their status and behavior is different. Their capabilities are different. Their purpose is different.

The new covenant

The new covenant was made by Jesus Christ and provided all the necessary ingredients to make it survive through eternity.

In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

In coming articles, we will explore these enduring qualities of the new covenant and help understand how to access them.
