FTH and authority (3)

Our authority as Christians places us in a unique position to advance the kingdom of God through spiritual warfare. Since the fall of Adam and Eve, no other human has had authority to advance the kingdom of God until Jesus Christ commissioned his disciples. How do we advance the kingdom? We use our words in line with the Word of God to speak God’s will as we have faith that God will perform what we say.

Genesis 1:3 New International Version (NIV)

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

God used words to create the universe thus showing us by example how to use our faith and words to execute God’s will.

Mark 11:23 New International Version (NIV)

23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.

Jesus showed us how to use our words to make things obey us. We speak to the devil to make him go away. We speak to natural disasters to make them stop. We speak to other evil spirits to clear out and go back to hell.

2 Corinthians 4:13 New International Version (NIV)

13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak,

The Apostle Paul uses the word of God to fight the good fight. His quote of Psalm 116:10 is revealing.

Psalm 116:10 Aramaic Bible in Plain English

I have believed and I have spoken, and I have been very humbled.

Finally, we learn that it takes violence to seize the kingdom of heaven. This violence is a spiritual violence and Jesus gives the timeline of this warfare in Matthew 11:12.

Matthew 11:12 Darby Translation (DARBY)

12 But from the days of John the baptist until now, the kingdom of the heavens is taken by violence, and the violent seize on it.

My own translation of this verse goes like this:

12The kingdom of God on Earth is being retaken from the devil by believers who stand their ground, dig in their heels, speak the word of God and believe it.
