The process of transformation occurs in real time using the future progressive tense of the verb to be: become, becoming. Every spiritual transformation occurs within two seemingly contradictory time frames. When seen through God’s eyes (that is from eternity), everything occurs instantly because God sees the beginning from the end as a single event. When seen through our eyes in the world (that is within history), everything occurs as a process. For instance, Faith occurs instantly the minute I believe and yet it also grows as I exercise it.
God is patient toward sinners because he loves us and he wants us to repent and be transformed by his love. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:8-9
For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Hebrews 10:37
Father God, Thank you for your patience with me in bringing me to repentance. Help me to be patient as you perform your perfect work in me. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Kingdom of God
Since the kingdom of God is within me, anything I can do to grow spiritually also advances the kingdom of God in the world. My spiritual growth is automatically an expansion of the kingdom of God. And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:20-21
Father God, help me to mature in your Holy Spirit. Give me understanding and wisdom as I abide in your love. Amen.
Faith and prayer
God changed Abram’s “high father” name to “Abraham,” “father of a multitude”. Despite the fact at that time Abram was childless, he believed God and began to use his new name. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee. Genesis 17:5
Paul said that God calls things that be not as though they were, and therefore by imitation we also can pray using this technique. (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Romans 4:17
Hebrews 11 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. Hebrews 11:13
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24
Here is the essence of faith that disagrees with real-time experience. For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
Dear God Almighty, help me to know you and your son Jesus Christ. Help me to grow in faith so I can see as you see and call those things that be not as though they were. Amen.
Heart and Spirit
Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it. Yet the Lord set his heart in love on your fathers and chose their offspring after them, you above all peoples, as you are this day. Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn. For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. Deuteronomy 10:14-17
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Ezekiel 36:26-27
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10
Father God, Thank you for your love towards me. Sometimes I do not feel your love and I feel that my heart is not clean. From Psalm 51:10 create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit in me. Amen.
In the Old Testament, the Jews did not believe God’s prophetic words and therefore, God had to remind them that they would be fulfilled very soon. “Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: None of my words will be delayed any longer; whatever I say will be fulfilled, declares the Sovereign Lord.’” Ezekiel 12:28
“For the vision is yet for the appointed (future) time It hurries toward the goal (of fulfillment); it will not fail. Even though it delays, wait (patiently) for it, Because it will certainly come; it will not delay. Habakkuk 2:3
Father God, I trust your word and I believe your words will not be delayed in their fulfillment. I ask for patience to empower me to await your vision at its appointed time. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
